The Lake Shore Electric Corporation Insulated Case Manual Transfer Switch provides dependable, positive manual transfer from one power source to an alternate. The Insulated Case switch is tested and listed as a manual transfer switch under U.L. 1008 and is CSA approved. Like the Insulated Case Automatic Transfer Switch, it is also designed and built to the much stricter standards applied to the manufacture of our generator control and distribution switchgear. This provides the flexibility to offer this product as an integral part of a continuous switchgear line-up.
The Insulated Case Manual Transfer Switch functions by means of two mechanically interlocked, insulated case stored-energy switches, or circuit breakers. This is the same class of product typically used to protect the total electrical system. Incorporating these insulated case products into the transfer scheme insures that the level of product integrity and quality is maintained. As with all other Lake Shore Electric products, the speed at which the current carrying contacts open and close is independent from the speed of the manual operator. Therefore, manual transfer of the switch under load can be accomplished without danger to the operator or the connected loads. Maintenance requirements are minimal. All components, from the switches to the pushbuttons and pilot lights are standard, industrial grade components and are readily available and replaceable. In addition, a drawout configuration is available which provides for bypass and isolation of each source switching mechanism.
Lake Shore Electric Insulated Case Manual Transfer Switches are offered in various free-standing enclosures. In addition to steel, stainless steel and aluminum enclosures can also be provided. NEMA 1, 3R, 12 and 4X are available. Our standard enclosure provides for rear accessibility to cable connections as a standard feature on all switches 4000 amperes and below. As an optional accessory Lake Shore Electric Corporation can provide removable side panels for side access.
